The Municipality of Spetses has announced an outstanding and content-rich program of commemorative and cultural events for Armata 2024, which will take place on the historic island from Friday, August 30th to Sunday, September 8th, the day of the heroic Battle of Spetses, which occurred on September 8, 1822.

A 22-year-old French national was arrested shortly after midnight on Monday as he smashed surveillance cameras outside the Culture Ministry building on Bouboulina Street in Athens with a crowbar.

Police said he had already managed to smash two cameras before they reached him and that they found another camera in his possession.

Spetses is a Saronic Gulf island not far from the mainland Peloponnese. Comprised of just one historic main town, it offers great nightlife and restaurant options along with plenty of accessible beaches. Many affluent Athenians have made Spetses their second home.
