The Gastronomos Quality Awards are in their 13th year. This year, the aim was to showcase the "Little Heroes," the generation that dared to create during the financial crisis and succeeded with whatever means they had at their disposal.

This was the message on Twitter on Wednesday that heralded the launch of Schedia Home, a new space in downtown Athens offering support to vulnerable residents, which aspires to become a hub of social innovation.

"Wow! What is this?" a young American woman asked chef Lefteris Lazarou after taking her first bite of velvety mashed Naxos potatoes with smoked eel and truffle oil.
