Moldova Gives Europeans Stake in Gambling Industry
Moldova's Public Property Agency, APP, will no longer hold a monopoly on gambling and lotteries in the country, as the state announced plans to implement a public-private partnership project with two EU companies.
The first contract, relating to slot machines, has been won by Novo Gaming M Technologies GmbH, part of the Austria's Novomatic consortium operating.

"Democratic Bulgaria" Undertakes Measures Against Mass Sale of Scratch Lottery Tickets

Man Won the Biggest Jackpot in the History of Malaysia
A Malaysian businessman from Pinang won the record-breaking jackpot in the history of the national lottery - 69.6 million ringgit (USD 16.6 million).
The man whose name is not mentioned said that he had played in the lottery for four years, always choosing the numbers of his car. This time he changed his numbers and chose a random combination, BTA reported.
Gov't cuts OPAP video lottery machine plans
Greece proposed on Friday that betting company OPAP should operate a total of 25,000 video lottery machines, down from the 35,000 machines the country's current legislation stipulates.
The Finance Ministry said on Friday it had tabled a bill which reduces the number of machines, aiming at a smaller exposure to gambling and a more effective supervision by the authorities.

OPAP net profit declines in Q1
OPAP, Europe's fourth-biggest betting firm, reported an 8.7 percent drop in first-quarter net profit on Monday, hurt by costs for the rollout of a new video lottery business.
OPAP said net profit came in at 39 million euros in the first three months of the year, down from 42.8 million euros in the same period a year ago.
