Apostolos Lytras: On 4 April the trial for the beating of Polyzogopoulou

On April 4, Apostolos Lytras will sit in the dock of the Monopolium Court of Appeal, accused of beating her estranged wife Sophia Polyzogopoulou. The hearing of this case was set for next April and before a single-member Court of Appeal, due to special jurisdiction, given the accused’s status as a lawyer.

According to Mega, last Saturday, Mr. Lytras, after his release, was seen at the venue where Elli Kokkinou and Lefteris Pantazis perform, accompanied by his eldest daughter.

Lawyer in domestic abuse case granted conditional release

Three months after he was remanded in custody on charges of assaulting his wife, prominent criminal lawyer Apostolos Lytras has been granted conditional release.

Court officials decided on the move after a prosecutor recommended that Lytras face misdemeanor, not criminal, charges for the alleged abuse of his wife, fellow attorney Sofia Polyzogopoulou.

The council downgraded the initial felony charge of grievous bodily harm, related to the assault on his wife, Sofia Polyzogopoulou, to a misdemeanor—specifically, intentional domestic endangerment causing bodily harm. As a result, Lytras will now be tried in a Single-Member Misdemeanor Court rather than a Mixed Jury Court.
