The trial against the four Greek nationals who injured 30 immigrant workers a year ago started in the Greek town of Patras.

The case triggered a local campaign to boycott "blood strawberries" which is still ongoing, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio.

The owner of a strawberry farm in Nea Manolada in the Peloponnese is due to stand trial on Friday along with three foremen who are accused of shooting at dozens of migrant workers in 2013.

Racially motivated attacks increased in Greece last year, according to the Racist Violence Recording Network, a collection of 30 nongovernmental organizations including the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
