One dead, three injured after thieves' car crashes with bus
A man was killed and three injured late on Sunday when the car they were traveling in while fleeing the theft of a food delivery worker collided with a bus in Menidi, northern Athens.
According to police, the car was traveling at a high speed when it crashed into an upcoming bus at the junction of Karamanlis and Aghia Triada streets.
Man confesses to killing mother in Menidi
A 49-year-old man has allegedly confessed to killing his 81-year-old mother in her home in the district of Menidi, eastern Attica, on Friday night.
The suspect walked into a police station in Nea Philadelphia shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday and reportedly told officers he smothered her with a pillow.

Police carry out controlled explosion in Menidi
Bomb disposal experts destroyed a "suspicious" shoebox in a controlled explosion outside the town hall of Menidi in northern Attica late on Friday night.
Police said the box contained a shoe, a board, wires, and a piece of cloth.

Armed robbery suspect escapes from police custody in West Attica
A manhunt was under way on Tuesday for an escaped suspect accused of shooting at police during a post office hold up.
The 27-year-old suspect, an Albanian national, is one of two suspects in the robbery who managed to break out of a holding cell in the police precinct of Menidi, west of Athens. The second man was stopped by police as the pair fled the premises.
Heavy rainfall causes problems in Attica
Heavy rainfall on Sunday evening caused serious problems in Attica, prompting Traffic Police to close off flooded roads and leading to several calls to the fire service to pump out flooded homes and basements.
Among the roads closed by the authorities were a section of Pireos Street as well as a stretch of the Athens-Corinth national highway.
