Serbia to get Russian MiG-29 fighter jets 'within weeks'

Six Mikoyan MiG-29 multipurpose fighter jets, which Russia has presented to Serbia as a gift, will arrive in the Balkan country 'within several days or several weeks,' Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said after a meeting with the Russian president.

The fighter jets will enter service in the Serbian Air Force until the end of 2017 after repairs, the Serbian premier said.

Bulgaria's Defense Ministry Denies Having Signed MiG-29 Repair Contract

No fighter jet repair contract has been signed between Bulgaria and Russian aircraft company MiG over the past months, the Defense Ministry in Sofia has said.

Its remarks follow reports by TASS news agency, which quoted the head of MiG as saying at an international defense expo that such a deal was sealed at the end of 2016 about aircraft in service with the Bulgarian Air Force.

Serbia to Receive Six MiG-29 Jets From Russia by May

BELGRADE - Russian specialists would help Belgrade modernize six aircraft to be received from Russia, as well as four fighter jets from the Serbian Air Force fleet, according to local media.

The Serbian Defense Ministry will receive six Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter jets from Russia before the end of April, Serbian media reported Sunday.

Serbia to Get 8 MiG-29, 2 Buk Missile Systems as Gift From Belarus

BELGRADE - Serbia will get eight Mikoyan MiG-29 twin-engine fighters and two Buk missile systems as a gift from Belarus, Serbian Defense Minister Zoran Djordevic told the Politika Serbian daily newspaper.

The deliveries, provided on a no-pay basis under the condition that Serbia cover repair and modernization expenses, are expected to be completed in 2018, Djordevic said.
