Iohannis: Moldova's and Ukraine's European path, one of main foreign policy concerns

President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday said that the European path of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine represents one of the main foreign policy concerns for Romania, adding that Bucharest will continue to 'firmly' support the efforts in this respect of these two states and of Georgia.

'Weak' Moldova Government Worries Romania

Romanian analysts have expressed concerns that Moldova's chances for future integration into the European Union are diminishing after the formation of a weak minority government in the neighbouring former Soviet republic.

After months of negotiations, the Liberal Democratic Party, PLDM, and the Democratic Party, PDM, agreed late on January 23 to form a minority government in Moldova.

PM Ponta: I see worsened relations of Romania with Russia on short- and medium-term

Iohannis-Timofti telephone conversation; Romania's President visit to Chisinau, right after new government is installed

President Klaus Iohannis on Monday had a telephone conversation with his Moldovan counterpart Nicolae Timofti, at the latter's initiative, the two having agreed that the conditions for the Romanian head of state to Chisinau are not yet met, the visit going to take place 'right after the new government is installed,' the Presidential Administration informs.

Nuland Starts European Tour in Romania

The US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Victoria Nuland, is due on Wednesday in Bucharest as part of a European tour that includes another three countries apart from Romania.

Nuland will meet top officials and members of the business community and civil society to discuss bilateral and regional issues, according to a US Department of State statement.
