Mongol Rally

The two teams that left Romania in the Mongol Rally - Mamaliga (Polenta) Warriors and Dracula Khan - this weekend reached Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan, respectively, and their journey included a visit to a body shop in Georgia, meeting other teams in the rally, continual driving to the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan for 36 hours and a lunch served in a yurt.

The two teams that left from Romania in the Mongol Rally adventure, which ends around August 30 in Ulan Bator, arrived in Asia at the end of July.

Nearly 300 small-capacity cars and their teams of various nationalities competing in the Mongol Rally, the world's largest charity rally, on Friday evening parked around the Ancora terrace of Vama Veche, at the second Romanian checkpoint of the whacky rally.

Paul Budan, one of the organisers of the event, briefly explained the rules of the competition.

Romania's two teams that have left the country to embark on the Mongol Rally adventure - Dracula Khan and Mamaliga (Polenta) Warriors- on Tuesday evening reunited in Klenova, the Czech Republic, at a party extended before the second start in the world's largest charity rally.

The Mongol Rally, the world's largest charity rally, started on Sunday in London, after some of the most unusual teams lined up for the start were rewarded for originality or courage while other teams had to drop out because their cars packed up at the start.

Dracula Khan, one of the two Romanian teams participating in the Mongol Rally, is looking for a passenger for the Bucharest-Prague round trip, the team announced on its Facebook official page.

The Mongol Rally, the world's largest charitable rally, is this year crossing Romania, through Sibiu and Vama Veche, where the participants will be treated to two parties on July 24 and July 25, organisers report in a press release sent to Agerpres.

Raul Crisan has been living in Zaragoza, Spain for less than four years, where he works in online marketing; in the second part of July, he will embark on a trek that will take him to the Mongol Rally, a charity rally seeking to raise funds this year for the British environmental group CoolEarth.

"We miss being able to fix the cars with chewing gum and a baked bean can", and "If you're not lost you need to try harder" are just some of the statements that best embody the Mongol Rally, a road adventure created in 2004 that provides competitors with a start point and a finish line and no other indication.

Some left because they wanted to travel upon a bike named Doyle and stories to tell, others because they wanted to live the adventure and fish on the road there, while others to enjoy a seven-week break from work, and some blaming mid-life crisis.
