Moscovici: Creditor inspections to become less frequent and ‘lighter’

Three days after his visit to Athens was completed, European Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici stated in Washington that the monitoring of Greece’s economy by its international creditors should become «lighter» and less «interventionist,» with inspectors visiting only twice a year.

Moscovici to visit Athens

France’s Pierre Moscovici, EU Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, is expected in Athens next Monday and Tuesday (December 15-16) it emerged on Thursday.

“I will be visiting Greece on Monday and Tuesday. We stand by Greece and its people as they take forward reforms for jobs and growth,” wrote Moscovici on his Twitter account on Thursday.

Samaras, Moscovici meet in Athens

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and former French Finance Minister Pierre Moscovici discussed issues regarding the Greek economy in Athens on Wednesday.

According to reports, topics on the meeting's agenda included growth efforts being promoted by the Greek coalition government as well as the country's sovereign debt.
