Iran's long-lasting love for gemstones

At a prominent Shiite shrine in southern Tehran, Qasem Ashgari was buying yet another gemstone ring in the hope it would help his prayers to be answered promptly.

Asghari, in his 30s, who was already wearing several bands on each hand, had a specific ring in mind: A silver one, adorned with yellow agate and engraved with religious scripts.

Electronic Bracelets for Monitoring Criminals will Finally be Introduced from October

In October, the Justice Ministry will finally have electronic bracelets for monitoring, Mediapool reports.

A total of 200 bracelets with GPS surveillance with a precision of 2.5 m, and the remaining 50 aim to control inmates in open spaces.

Millennia-old jewels go on display

Jewelry that has been produced in different eras from the Bronze Age to Urartian, Hittite and Roman times has gone on display for the first time at the Malatya Museum. 

The jewelry, which features rings, bracelets, anklets, necklaces and brooches that are made of bone, bronze, precious stones and silver, provides a glimpse of the adornments women wore throughout the centuries.
