With diplomatic relations between Greece and Egypt deepening over the last years, there has been a renewed focus on the ties binding these two Mediterranean countries. One link that is back in the spotlight is the historic Greek community in Egypt, which for the last 200 years has maintained ties with homelands on both sides of the Mediterranean Sea.

Professor Stathis Kalyvas is the new president of the SNFCC

The new chairman of the Board of Directors at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) is Stathis Kalyvas, Gladstone Professor of Government at the University of Oxford's Department of Politics and International Relations, as was announced on Monday. 

Additionally, the SNFCC general assembly renewed Ellis Andriopoulou's term of office as its Managing Director.

Mitsotakis says Gaza conflict will not greatly impact Greek tourism

The impact of the conflict in the Middle East on Greek tourism will be limited, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Thursday.

Mitsotakis predicted that, just as the war in Ukraine had has a limited impact on Greece's tourism sector, which had no problem handling the loss of visitors from Russia, the same will be true for the war in the Middle East.

SNFCC to host Green Deal Greece conference

The Lighthouse venue at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Athens will host the Green Deal Greece conference on November 2.

Organized by the Technical Chamber of Greece and the economix.gr website, the event is titled "The Resilience of Infrastructures and Regions, Today and Tomorrow: Challenges, threats and opportunities toward the green reform."

AMKA met in Groningen in the Netherlands, where they were studying at a jazz conservatory, and got together as a band in 2018. Comprising three Greeks and a British singer, they recorded their first tracks at Dudu Loft in Athens, drawing influences from punk, krautrock, noise, disco, jazz and pop sounds.

A sensory-friendly screening - meaning one designed to be accessible to people with autism and sensory processing disorders - of "The Iron Giant," is being shown at the Great Lawn of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (snfcc.org). Part of its Park Your Cinema program, the 1999 animated adventure tells the tale of a young boy's friendship with an alien who looks like a giant robot.

Car overturns near SNFCC

A traffic accident led to a car overturning near the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in southern Athens on Monday afternoon. The accident, that occurred at approximately 3 p.m., has led to disruptions in traffic.
