Historic Breal Cup at Louvre
The historic cup won by Spyros Louis, the first marathon winner of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, which was inspired and designed by Michel Breal, will travel this year to the Louvre Museum in Paris.
The cup was acquired at an international auction by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) in order to make it accessible to the general public.

Concern over intentions of winning bidder for Faliro Sports Hall

Saving the old library building
The National Library of Greece has acquired a new state-of-the-art headquarters at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
However, the old headquarters at the historic Vallianeio neoclassical building in downtown Athens seems to have surrendered to the miscommunication between the ministries responsible for its rescue.

National Library Reading Room closed due to ceiling collapse
Researchers who want to use the spaces of the neoclassical Vallianeio building of the National Library of Greece on central Panepistimiou Street in Athens are now directed to the office of the general director, as the Reading Room remains temporarily closed after part of the interior ceiling fell, which testifies to the need for urgent action by the ministries of Education and Culture for its c
