A picture of an absolute thriller between Haris Doukas and Nikos Androulakis as regards the first round of the PASOK elections next Sunday, according to a poll conducted by Interview for the website politic.gr

The six PASOK leaders’ candidates appear ready for the first “half-time” of the race, attempting in the 24 hours remaining until next Sunday to “open up” to wider audiences and attract as many undecided voters as possible around their candidacy.

“We need a change in leadership. And that can only happen with me,” Pavlos Geroulanos said tonight, speaking on the main newscast of the OPEN television station.

A poll released on Monday shows SYRIZA dropping to fifth place, while PASOK maintains a steady second position behind New Democracy.

 An opinion poll presented on Action 24’s main newscast shows a 12-point lead for New Democracy (ND) over PASOK, with SYRIZA trailing in fifth place. The poll, conducted by Opinion Poll, reveals a tight race in PASOK’s internal elections, with a marginal lead for Nikos Androulakis over Charis Doukas. Among SYRIZA voters, Stefanos Kasselakis enjoys a significant lead of 45%.

As the battle for the leadership of socialist PASOK heats up ahead of Sunday's election, contenders are honing their strategies to ensure high voter turnout.
