Lawyers demand tighter security after courtroom violence
The heads of the Athens and Piraeus bar associations have called on Citizens' Protection Minister Nikos Toskas to tighten security at courthouses and increase protection for advocates.
Toskas promises to have Israeli embassy attackers arrested
Alternate Minister for Public Order Nikos Toskas has personally pledged to the Israeli ambassador in Greece to have the Rouvikonas members who attacked it on Monday arrested.
Extreme left group Rouvikonas made the Embassy of Israel its latest target, hurling paint against the building in northern Athens.
Ministers attend Elefsina conference on anti-flood work
Several key ministers attended a conference in Elefsina, western Attica, on Saturday, aimed at improving anti-flood works in the region following catastrophic floods last month that killed more than 20 people and wreaked massive damage to state infrastructure and private property.
Regional authorities have already approved a 500-million-euro program for anti-flood works.
Police to replace private security on Athens metro
Police officers will be replacing private security guards at the Greek capital's metro and ISAP electric railway stations, according to an agreement reached between the Citizens' Protection and Transport ministries.
