Motor Oil fined €9.2 mln for obstructing competition inspectors

Competition inspectors have fined the Motor Oil refinery 9.2 million euros and an employee €50,000 for obstructing an on-site inspection.

In a statement, the Hellenic Competition Commission said it had imposed the fines "after taking into consideration the particular seriousness of the related behavior, the disdain and their repercussion on the investigation taking place."

Greek firefighters contain a blaze at a major oil refinery that injured 3 workers

Three workers suffered light injuries during a fire Tuesday at a major oil refinery west of Athens that prompted Greek authorities to issue an evacuation alert for the surrounding area.

The blaze near the seaside town of Agioi Theodoroi, some 70 kilometers (40 miles) from Athens, was contained following a large firefighting operation, authorities said.

Double-digit profit gains for Motor Oil

Oil refining and trading company Motor Oil posted double-digit profit gains in the first half of 2024, it announced Wednesday.

Consolidated group earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were up 19.35%, reaching €638.7 million. Net profit rose 31.4% to €361.999 million. Group turnover rose 5.23% to €6.2 billion.

Lukoil Bulgaria Refinery to Get Fined over Air Pollution

Lukoil Neftochim, a Burgas-based oil refinery, will be slapped with a fine for contaminating the city's air with hydrogen sulfide, Environment Minister Ivelina Vasileva has said.

Vasileva has told the Bulgarian National Television the official announcement is to come from local authorities later on Friday.
