The Austrian energy company OMV wants to sell its 287 gas stations in Germany. The company announced its intentions in Vienna on Thursday. "With this possible sale of the OMV gas station business in Germany, OMV Aktiengesellschaft is actively moving towards managing its portfolio in the direction of sustainable and profitable growth," the statement said.

Russian energy giant Lukoil is in talks with ExxonMobil about the planned sale of the US multinational's 50 per cent stake of Neptun Deep gas project in the Romanian zone of the Black Sea, Romanian Prime Minister Ludovic Orban revealed late on Monday.

Romania went up on the 3rd position from the 4th position in the Top 500 companies in Central and Eastern Europe - Coface CEE Top 500, with 61 companies, increasing from 56, this development being due to the expansion of consumption, County Manager of Coface Romania Eugen Anicescu told a news conference on Wednesday.

Romanian giant OMV Petrom opened and developed new gas reserves in the southern part of the country. The company probed a new well near its existing Mamu field, at a depth of 4400 m where it found gas and condensate. The new well has already begun production at the end of October, extracting over 190,000 cubic meters of gas per day, the company said, reports money.bg

French oil giant Total and its partners Austria's OMV and Spain's Repsol have started drilling a third well in a block off the Bulgarian coast in the Black Sea, Total's Bulgarian business said on Wednesday, reports Reuters. 

One man died and 18 were injured in a blast at the Baumgarten gas terminal in Austria, authorities said.

Russia's Gazprom Neft and Austria's OMV will work together in Iran's oil sector under a memorandum of understanding, OMV said on June 2.

"Preliminary possible spheres of cooperation include analysis, assessment and study of certain oil deposits located in the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran in cooperation with the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC)," OMV said.

Doğan Group Honorary Chairman Aydın Doğan has declared a case into one of the group's former companies, Petrol Ofisi, to be entirely devoid of any legal or concrete basis during the latest hearing into the case on May 8.

Energy group OMV has launched a case against Romania at the International Court of Arbitration, demanding the reimbursement of environmental clean-up expenses worth 34 million euros which the Austrian group says it is entitled to according to the contract with Bucharest.
