Djedovic Handanovic receives Russian ambassador

BELGRADE - Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic received Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko on Wednesday to discuss cooperation in energy projects and also thanked the Russian Federation for supporting Serbia regarding a UN General Assembly resolution on Srebrenica.

At the very beginning, Vui thanked the gathered people.
"Thank you for being here today. In this number, they tried everything, to prevent the holding of the rally, to prevent people who think differently, to prevent those who just love their country. They did not succeed. Today our country is facing countless difficulties'', Vucic said.

New Year welcomed across Serbia

2018 has been welcomed with outdoor concerts and fireworks in several Serbian towns.

According to police, 40,000 people gathered in Belgrade's Nikole Pasica Square, to ring in the new year without any major incidents.

The celebrations were peaceful elsewhere in the country as well.

Vucic: Foreign direct investments at 1.6 bln euros in 2017

PANCEVO - Foreign direct investments in Serbia totalled 1.6 bln euros in 2017 - 8.3 pct more than last year, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Monday.

"And last year we had more investments than all countries and territories in the region put together," Vucic said at a ceremony marking the start of works on the Deep Processing project at the Pancevo oil refinery.

President Aleksandar Vucic says the new investment of the oil company NIS in deep processing in Pancevo is "very significant for the whole of Serbia."

At the opening ceremony, Vucic thanked Russia's President Vladimir Putin in particular for the cooperation between the two countries "moving in an ever better direction."

3 occupants in SUV die as it collides with excavator

Three persons have died in a traffic accident that happened at around 23:00 hours CET Thursday on the Banatsko Novo Selo-Vladimirovac road in northern Serbia.

As of Friday morning, only one victim, whose initials are M.D., has been identified. All three victims were traveling in a German license plates Volkswagen Touareg that collided with an excavator.

Jugoimport-SDPR, Stavatti Aerospace strike deal to produce new aircraft

BELGRADE - US-based Stavatti Aerospace and Serbia's Jugoimport-SDPR have struck a deal to develop and produce a new single-engine civilian airplane, the Serbian defence industry company has told Tanjug.

The aircraft will be manufactured at the UTVA AI plant in Pancevo - to be upgraded and expanded as part of the deal - and marketed commercially around the world, Jugoimport-SDPR said.
