ESR issues 24-hour broadcast ban over racist slur
Greece's National Broadcasting Council (ESR) has issued a one-day broadcast ban on a local TV channel for airing racist comments against Panathinaikos basketball player Thanasis Antetokounmpo last month.
On top of the 24-hour ban, due to take effect January 10, New Epsilon TV was also fined 30,000 euros, ESR said Tuesday.

Hooligans from rival soccer clubs clashed in central Athens on Monday night, ahead of a Champions League game between Ajax and AEK at OAKA stadium in the Greek capital this evening.
Supporters of Athens club Panathinaikos joined those of Ajax and Polish club Cracovia after reportedly attending a training of the Amsterdam team at OAKA.

Greeks beat Barcelona and Bayern - in basketball
Panathinaikos and Olympakos recorded much-needed Euroleague wins to leave behind them previous bad performances, as they defeated Barcelona and Bayern Munich respectively ahead of another pair of games on Thursday and Friday.
The Reds saw off Bayern 72-62 in Germany on Tuesday for their fourth win in eight games, putting an end to a three-match losing streak.

Top court orders probe into TV presenter's racial slur
Supreme Court prosecutor Xeni Dimitriou on Monday ordered a preliminary investigation into the racist rant of a TV presenter against Panathinaikos basketball player Thanasis Antetokounmpo two weeks ago.
The probe, which will be conducted by the Athens Prosecutors Office, will look into possible violations of the anti-racism law and whether other offenses were committed.
Panathinaikos eclipses Olympiakos by nine
Panathinaikos beat Olympiakos for the second time in 10 days, this time for the Basket League, to remain on top of the table, along with fellow unbeaten Peristeri after six league games.

Greek PM condemns racist abuse against Antetokounmpo
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Thursday came out in support of Panathinaikos basketball player Thanasis Antetokounmpo who was the target of racist abuse last weekend.
Tsipras posted a picture of himself on Instagram wearing the Greek national team's jersey bearing the name of Antetokounmpo.

Ownership change begins at Panathinaikos
The transfer of Panathinaikos soccer club to the Pan Asia fund, led by Thai business man Pairoj Piempongsant, has officially started with club owner Yiannis Alafouzos announcing on Tuesday the signing of the agreement for the first stage of the transaction concerning the first half of his stake.
