Euroleague triumphs for Greens and Reds

The tough week in the Euroleague has started triumphantly for the Greek teams, as Panathinaikos trounced hitherto joint leader Khimki in Athens and Olympiakos downed European champion Fenerbahce in Turkey.

On Tuesday the Greens eclipsed Khimki 93-65 at the Olympic Sports Hall with an outstanding all-around performance that gave the Russian team no chance on the night.

Panathinaikos ground out a 1-0 win over Olympiakos in the Derby of Eternal Rivals on Saturday, but it is Atromitos that continues to lead the table after a precious 2-0 win at Xanthi.

Panathinaikos showed much more passion than the Greek champion in a rather uneventful match played in unusually peaceful circumstances at the filled-to-capacity Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium in Athens.

Home wins in Euroleague for Greens and Reds

Home advantage counted for Greece's representatives in the Euroleague, with Olympiakos making it two out of two and Panathinaikos scoring its maiden win for the season in Europe.

The Greens faced Germany's Bamberg and were in the lead for virtually the entire game at the Olympic Sports Hall in Athens to win 93-83 on Thursday.

Panathinaikos communications director says club owes 34 million euros, not 54 million

Panathinaikos football club communications director Stamatis Garris denied the figures circulating in the media regarding the team’s accrued debts. Responding to an article published in sports newspaper “Prasini”, which claimed the club owed 54 million euros, Mr. Garris underlined that the true number was 34.7 million.
