Two Koreas in talks on Winter Olympics athletes
North Korea has offered to send more than 200 cheerleaders to the Winter Olympics in the South and attend the Paralympics, Seoul said as the two Koreas met on Jan. 17 to discuss athlete numbers in the latest in a flurry of cross-border talks.

S. African court doubles Pistorius sentence to more than 13 years: media
A South African appeals court increased paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius’ sentence for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp to 13 years and five months on Nov. 24, local media reported.

Entertainment Weekly has released the exclusive promo for “Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer”.
It stars Andreas Damm as Pistorius and Toni Garrn as Steenkamp. The film centres on the fatal shooting of Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day as well as the court case.
Court to hear appeal against Pistorius in November
South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) will hear the state’s appeal against the six-year murder sentence handed to Paralympic gold medallist Oscar Pistorius on Nov. 3, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said on Tuesday.
The state will argue that six years in jail is too lenient a sentence for the murder by Pistorius of Reeva Steenkamp, his girlfriend, in 2013.

Turkish men's team to take on Great Britain in European Wheelchair Basketball Championship final
The Turkish men's national wheelchair basketball team has reached the European Wheelchair Basketball Championship and will face Great Britain, a team they had beaten in the group stage, in the final on June 30.
The Turkish team had knocked out Germany in the semi-final in Tenerife, Italy.
Turkey, unbeaten in the five group stage games, also beat Italy in the quarter-final.
Paralympian accused of murdering employee claims self-defense
A 39-year-old Paralympic athlete was set to face an investigating magistrate on Monday after fatally shooting a 47-year-old man who worked for him at an OPAP betting store managed by the accused in Moschato, southern Athens, on Friday.
The athlete claimed he was acting in self-defense, saying the victim threatened him and his family.
