BELGRADE - The Serbian government adopted at Thursday's session eight bills in the judiciary sphere, which will be forwarded to the parliament for an urgent debate.

The government adopted the bill on enforcement of criminal sanctions and the bill on enforcement of alternative sanctions, it was stated after the government's session.

PRISTINA - A majority of MPs voted in favor of dissolving the Kosovo parliament at an extraordinary session on Wednesday, thus clearing the ground for snap parliamentary elections.

During the vote, 115 MPs were present in the parliament, with 90 voting in favor and four against the dissolution of the parliament.

 Lawmakers detained pending trial to get permission to attend immunity votes

Detained lawmakers of the ultra-right Golden Dawn party who face having their immunity to prosecution lifted are to be given permission to attend Parliament on the days that the House is due to discuss their cases, Kathimerini has learned.

The bill facilitates permanent constructions on beaches for commercial purposes, while making it possible for businesses to pay fines to legalize unlicensed constructions.

First instance prosecutor Calliope Dagianta asked Parliament on Friday to lift the immunity of Golden Dawn spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris so he can face charges of breaching the privacy of former cabinet secretary Panayiotis Baltakos by recording a conversation between the two men.

The offense is considered a felony and carries a stiff prison sentence.

Six MPs resigned on Friday so they could stand as candidates for European Parliament in the May 25 elections.

Parliamentary rules mean that MPs cannot fulfill both roles.

After the executive board of the Social Democatic Party, SDSM, on Thursday unanimously supported the decision not to take up any seats in parliament, the party’s central committee is due officially to confirm the move on Thursday evening.
