‘Some distance’ remains in Parthenon Sculptures deal, says British Museum chair

A deal to return the Parthenon Sculptures to Athens is "still some distance" away, the head of the British Museum, which houses most of them, has said.

George Osborne confirmed that his institution is looking at an agreement that would see some of the contested sculptures come back to Athens in return for Greek treasures being put on display in London.

A few minutes past noon, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the President of PASOK-KINAL, Nikos Androulakis, began their meeting in the Prime Minister’s office in Parliament.

According to reports, two trays of kourabiedes from Dora Bakoyannis awaited Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Androulakis.

Mitsotakis arrives at No 10 for meeting with Starmer

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived at Downing Street on Tuesday for a meeting with British counterpart Keir Starmer, their first since the latter was elected earlier this year.

The talks are being held "at a critical geopolitical juncture for the West and amid escalation in Ukraine," according to a statement from Mitsotakis' office.
