PASOK – Movement for Change

Former Socialist minister and MP Andreas Loverdos announced on Tuesday that he will form a new party to run in the upcoming European elections.

Loverdos said, in an interview with state broadcaster ERT, that his party will stand politically "between New Democracy and PASOK" and it will serve as a vehicle for him to run for the European parliament.

Greece's opposition parties blasted the ruling New Democracy government of not doing enough to curb soaring prices and that the measures announced earlier on Wednesday are inadequate.
 

PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis pledged on Friday to launch a campaign against the residence-permit-for-property-buys scheme of the government, widely known as the golden visa, claiming that this renders the Greek economy less Greek.

The era of modernization, almost 20 years after the end of the eight-year term of former socialist prime minister Costas Simitis, was revived on Monday evening in the Antigone Hall of the Hellenic Cosmos Cultural Center, at an event held in his honor.

Greece's Council of State will discuss on Friday a petition by PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Nikos Androulakis requesting that a government regulation forbidding the independent authority responsible for privacy, ADAE, from informing those who have been previously monitored by the National Intelligence Service to be declared unconstitutional.

A concerted attack was launched Thursday by opposition parties against the government over the lack of preventive measures to deal with the catastrophic flooding that struck the region of Thessaly in central Greece.

An "immeasurable environmental disaster" is taking place in the last six days on the island of Rhodes, center-left PASOK-KINAL leader Nikos Androulakis said in on Sunday.

"We will not give a vote of confidence to the government…we will be the reliable opposition the people need," socialist leader Nikos Androulakis said Saturday during the debate on the government's policy statement.

Androulakis' PASOK party came third in the June 25 election, with 11.84% of the vote, electing 32 MPs in the 300-member Greek Parliament.
