Bulgaria's Pironkova Reaches Sydney Semi-Finals
Tsvetana Pironkova scored on Wednesday her 14th victory in a row, defeating Barbora Zahvalova Strycova in the Sydney International tournament in Australia.
Pironkova, currently No 67 in the ATP rankings, won over the Czech player 6:4, 6:1, making her way into the semi-finals.

Tennis: Simona Halep qualifies for final of WTA Shenzhen tournament
Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has qualified for the final of the 500,000-dollar WTA tournament in Shenzhen (China) on Friday, after defeating Chinese player Saisai Zheng by 6-2, 6-3, in one hour and 26 minutes of play.

Ivanovic contender for WTA Player of Year
LONDON - Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic has been shortlisted for the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Player of the Year.
Ivanovic finished the season as No. 5, after claiming four titles (Auckland, Monterey, Birmingham, Tokyo) and with the score of 58-17 achieved the highest number of victories during the WTA tour.

Romania's Halep, defeated by Serbia's Ivanovic, advances to 2014 WTA Finals semis along with US Williams
Romania's female tennis player Simona Halep on Friday was defeated by Serbian Ana Ivanovic, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, in the last fixture of the Red Group at the 2014 WTA Finals in Singapore, but she and US player Serena Williams advanced to the tournament's semis on Saturday.
For her advancement to the semis, Halep takes home 463,000 US dollars and 530 WTA points.

Ivanovic halted in China Open semi-finals
BEIJING - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic failed to reach the final of the WTA tournament in Beijing, after losing to Russia's Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-4 on Saturday.
In the title match, Sharapova will face Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic, who defeated Australia's Sam Stosur in the first semi-final earlier today.

Romania's Halep hanging on to #2 in WTA singles ranking
Romanian female tennis player Simona Halep is hanging on to the second position in the latest weekly WTA woman's singles ranking released on Monday, with 6,750 points. Topping the ranking is still Serena Williams of the US, with 9,430 points.
Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu jumped two positions to #60, with 898 points.
