Piano City Athens, with the support of This is Athens City Festival, brings over 100 pianos to various public spaces across the city this month. From squares to hospitals, private homes to sidewalks, and even atop Lycabettus Hill, pianos are available for all to play and enjoy. Esteemed artists, rising stars and students showcase their talents, serenading passers-by over four days.

Il Grande Piano, known as 'piano magicians' in the world, will be on the streets of Antalya this weekend as part of the 23rd International Antalya Piano Festival's city events.

The 23rd International Antalya Piano Festival's city events continue with spectacular performances. Next will be the "piano magicians" Il Grande Piano with their performances on Dec. 9 and 10.

The weekend is all about the piano at the Athens Concert Hall (megaron.gr), which has put together a program of concerts and other events, both for adults and children, dedicated to this majestic instrument.

Up-and-coming violin soloist Danae Papamattheou-Matschke teams up with her father, the internationally renowned pianist Uwe Matschke, and cellist Kerstin Feltz to take on two towering works of the 19th and 20th century chamber music repertoire: Brahms' Piano Trio No 1 and Shostakovich's Piano Trio No 2. The show at the Athens Concert Hall (megaron.gr) starts at 8.30 p.m.

A grand piano that laid abandoned in a corner of a studio at Radio Slovenija until just over a decade ago is the main protagonist in a film that premiered at Ljubljana's Kinodvor on 4 January, 79 years after the piano's erstwhile owners were executed by the Partisan secret police.

"My sister Ana handles the concert season and public relations, my wife handles the administrative duties, and I am a multifunctioning device," he jests.

After attending music high school in Belgrade, Vrbanec went on to receive a degree in piano and a Europiano technical degree.

Lubomyr Melnyk, who has been called the Prophet of the Piano due to his lifelong devotion to the instrument, will be performing at the Parnassos Literary Society in Athens on April 3 and 4.

With numerous awards under her belt, including from the Academy of Athens, and having collaborated with great conductors, Alexia Mouza's recital at the Athens Concert Hall comes hot on the heels of her Carnegie Hall debut. The critically acclaimed Greek pianist will perform Chopin's Piano Sonata No 3 in B minor and Liszt's Sonata in B minor. The recital starts at 8.30 p.m.

Four-year-old pianist from Burgas will play in two of the most famous concert halls in the world - Carnegie Hall in New York and Royal Albert Hall in London, BNT reported.

Elizabeth Ivanova is a graduate of "Veselina Music Workshop" in the city. The child learns to play the piano in just eight months and has already won six competitions in Bulgaria and abroad.

The third annual Koufonisia Classical Music Festival continues on July 25 and August 1, 10, 18 and 28, organized by pianist Natalia Michailidou and oboist Vaggelis Christopoulos, both residents of the Cycladic island.
