Finger-pointing over fires as police tapes depict alarm

As a political debate about who was responsible for last week's fatal wildfires continued, radio conversations between senior police and traffic police officials obtained by Kathimerini depict their alarm on the night that the blaze raged out of control, confounding the tactics of the authorities.

Attacks on tax inspectors to be made a criminal offense

An amendment was submitted to Parliament on Thursday whereby physical attacks against tax inspectors will be considered a criminal offense.

Accordingly, the offense will be equated with attacks on police officers, port authority officials and other state officials.

The amendment was tabled in the wake of a recent spike in attacks against tax inspectors. 

A Man Shot His Wife and Himself in a Shop in "Sveti Vlas"

The woman was a cashier at the store. The shooter is in critical condition. 

 

The 54-year-old man shot a 46-year-old woman at a supermarket in a seaside resort of St. Vlas, then shot himself in the head, FOCUS News Agency reported, referring to information from the Municipal Police Directorate of Burgas.
