Vucic could defeat Nikolic in second round - poll
Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic could win in the first round of presidential elections, that should be held in Serbia in the spring, a new poll has shown.
At the same time, according to the Faktor Plus/Politika survey that, among other issues, looks into the chances of potential candidates, President Tomislav Nikolic "could have problems" if he qualified to the second round.

Brajovic to focus on media strategy issues
BELGRADE - The newly-appointed state secretary for information and media at the Ministry of Culture and Information, Nino Brajovic, announced Wednesday he would dedicate himself to issues related to the media strategy, including solving the status of the Tanjug news agency and the Politika daily, as well as funding for local media.

Nikolic: Russian staff should be treated like all aid workers
BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has said he had discussed with PM Aleksandar Vucic Russia's request regarding the status of staff at the Russian-Serbian humanitarian centre in Nis, noting he personally believed the staff should be treated like members of other organisations engaged in similar activities.

Bogoljub Karic says he has made a proposal for U.S. and Russian presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump to meet in Belgrade.
In a letter he published in the Belgrade-based newspaper Politika on Wednesday, the businessman said he came to this idea "considering the excellent relations between Serbia and Russia."

The Ridiculous Darkness named best play of 50th Bitef
BELGRADE - Wolfram Lotz's the Ridiculous Darkness, directed by the Czech Republic's Dusan David Parízek and produced by Burgtheater Vienna, has been named the best play of the 50th Belgrade International Theatre Festival - Bitef.
The Mira Trailovic Grand Prix was handed out to Parizek by an international jury.
Serbian Cartoonist's Sacking 'Reveals Govt's Ties to Media'
Serbian daily newspaper Politika has vowed to reinstate its sacked caricaturist, Dusan Petricic, after the Prime Minister advised it not to sack him.
Petricic told BIRN he had not been notified of the decision, however. "Since the acting editor-in-chief of Politika, Zarko Rakic, notified me about the cancellation of our collaboration, I have had no contact with management," he said.
FSS file appeal against Kosovo's UEFA membership
BELGRADE - The Football Association of Serbia (FSS) has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne against Kosovo's admission to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Serbian news web portal Politika reported on Thursday.
