Pope recalls 'painful memory' of narco wars

Pope Francis on Sept. 9 visited Medellin, epicenter of Colombia's narco wars of the 1980s and asked that God convert the hearts of the "drug assassins" who cut short so many young lives. 

On his penultimate day in Colombia, Francis flew to Medellin, the city northwest of the capital that was once notorious as the stomping grounds of drug lord Pablo Escobar.

Pope Francis underwent psychoanalysis at 42

Pope Francis once underwent psychoanalysis with a Jewish analyst, according to a new book-length interview of the pontiff conducted by a French academic.

Francis said that he saw the psychoanalyst weekly for about six months when he was 42 years old.

Pope Francis Prays For an End to 'Inhuman Violence' of Terrorism

Pope Francis on Sunday prayed that God will liberate the world from the "inhuman violence" of terrorism, in the wake of incidents over the past week in Burkina Faso, Barcelona and Finland that left a total of 34 people dead. The pontiff has long condemned terrorism, especially when it's religiously-inspired, insisting that it's "blasphemy" to kill in the name of God.
