Crete extends tourism season
Crete, the flagship of Greek tourism, is extending the tourism season for another year, with the "help" of climate change, as the president of the Crete hoteliers' association, Manolis Tsakalakis, said to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.

German tourist found dead in Crete villa sauna
A 33-year-old German tourist was found dead Friday in a villa sauna in Rethymno, Crete, local outlet Zarpanews.gr reported.
Authorities are investigating, with initial reports suggesting the death may have resulted from a fall.
The man was staying with nine other tourists at the villa in Plakias. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.

70-year-old farmer in critical condition after brutal shooting in Rethymno
A 70-year-old farmer is fighting for his life after being shot in a violent attack in the village of Villandredo, Rethymno, Crete. Two of four young men involved in last week's beating of a 26-year-old French tourist in Rethymno, Crete, have been placed in custody.
A court upgraded the charge from a misdemeanor to a felony. The suspects, including two who were released, will face trial at the Mixed Jury Court.
Two drownings in a few hours in Crete
According to reports, the incidents began early in the morning when beachgoers at a beach in Gerani, Chania, saw a woman unconscious in the sea.
Immediate efforts were made to bring her ashore, and the authorities were notified. Despite the heroic attempts to revive her, the elderly woman had already passed away.

Two men arrested in beating of Greek-Canadian in Crete
Two men were arrested Monday in connection with the violent beating of Greek-Canadian Emmanuel Kakoulakis in Iraklio, Crete, about six weeks ago.
Local media Cretapost reported that the suspects are a 31-year-old from the Rethymno municipality of Mylopotamos and a 32-year-old from the Iraklio municipality of Malevizi.
Rethymno: Dead 65-year-old German woman who was missing
The 65-year-old German woman who had been missing since yesterday was found dead in the area between Prasonisi – Triopetra in Rethymno.
According to flashnews.gr, the 65-year-old woman was found unconscious by a private diver and her body was transported by lifeguard to the port of Agia Galini.
