Big seaplane plans for Crete

Greek Water Airports announced on Wednesday it has applied for the creation of a water aerodrome at Agia Galini in the prefecture of Rethymno in southern Crete. 

It also said that the Port Fund of Hania has submitted an application for the creation of a water aerodrome at the port of Kissamos, selecting Greek Water Airports as the contractor. 

Lockdown if necessary in some of Greece’s most popular islands

A number of Greece's most popular islands will be confronted with a local lockdown where there has been over the last two weeks a continual steep rise in confirmed COVID-19 cases Some experts have projected a possible 10,000 cases a day by mid-August.

That is over three times the number of cases in the last 24 hours (2,691) announced today by the National Public Health Organisation.

Experts recommend hard lockdown for two more regions

A committee of health experts advising the Greek government on the pandemic is said to have recommended a stricter lockdown for two more regions, namely Achaea in the Peloponnese and the island of Evia, according to sources cited by Skai TV on Friday.

The committee is also believed to have recommended some extra restrictions for the region of Rethymno in Crete.

Lime to terminate Athens scooter service, report says

Electric scooter-sharing service Lime plans to terminate its operations in Athens in the wake of poor economic results, according to a report in Solomon MAG.

According to the same report, the California-based startup plans to downsize its business in the northern port city of Thessaloniki, while relaunching in Rethymno, in northern Crete.

Cities of Karditsa, Rethymno aluded for pedestrian, cyclist safety

The cities of Karditsa in central Greece and Rethymno on the island of Crete received distinctions as part of European Mobility Week 2019 for their efforts to promote safe walking and cycling.
