Five arrested in connection with large weapons stash

Five people were arrested in Western Attica on Monday as suspected members of a criminal network active in the possession, supply and sale of weapons and explosives, police said on Tuesday.

The case file accuses the men of possessing and manufacturing explosives, and violating laws on explosives, flares, drugs and antiquities.

Western Attica police raid results in firearms confiscation

A police raid conducted in western Attica on Sunday resulted in the confiscation of a hunting shotgun, a snub-nosed revolver, as well as multiple of shotgun shells.

In addition to the firearms, a magazine with 33 shells, 159 additional shells, as well as 435 shell casings and some shotgun shell packages were confiscated.

No ammunition for the revolver was found by police.

Man faces charges over illegal arsenal 

A man faced a prosecutor on Friday on charges of possession of an extensive arsenal of military-grade firearms, ammunition and hand grenades.

The 54-year-old from the northern city of Florina is set to testify before an investigating magistrate on Tuesday, while his wife, 57, has already testified and is being held in custody.

Police department manager arrested over alleged misappropriation of firearms

A police officer, who was the manager of an Athens police department, was apprehended on Wednesday for the misappropriation of service firearms. 

Following a routine inspection by an armorer, discrepancies in handheld weapons assigned to the officer were identified. 

The father of the killer from Mladenovac denied guilt, he was remanded in custody

On the proposal of the VJT in Smederevo, the court ordered the custody of R.B. (54) father of Uro B., who killed eight and wounded 12 people in the territory of Mladenovac and Smederevo, for up to 30 days.
This was confirmed to Tanjug in that prosecutor's office.
