Five arrested in connection with large weapons stash

Five people were arrested in Western Attica on Monday as suspected members of a criminal network active in the possession, supply and sale of weapons and explosives, police said on Tuesday.

The case file accuses the men of possessing and manufacturing explosives, and violating laws on explosives, flares, drugs and antiquities.

Authorities discovered the stash of weapons and explosives during a raid on Monday, while searches were conducted in three houses and two basements in the same area.

Officers seized, among other objects, 25 pieces of military explosives, 60 kg of ammonium dynamite, four pieces of explosive, seven coils of flame retardant rope, two detonators, 5,925 cartridges of various calibers mainly for military use, two weapons, one automatic weapon, six revolvers, five pistols, one double barrel shotgun, one single barrel carbine, 38 magazines of...
