Study Ranks Bulgaria with Slowest Decline in Road Deaths Across Europe
A recent study conducted by Vignetteswitzerland.com has shed light on the state of road safety in Europe, revealing concerning trends for Bulgaria. According to the study, Bulgaria ranks third among the most dangerous countries to drive in, with Romania taking the top spot and Serbia following closely behind.
Road fatalities down significantly last year
A total of 86 people were killed in traffic accidents on Slovenian roads in 2022, which is 28 fewer than in 2021. Still, the number of accidents topped 18,000, which is about 1,100 more than the year before, show data from the General Police Administration.

Eurostat: Bulgaria Ranks First in the EU in Terms of Road Accident Rates
The number of road traffic victims in the European Union in 2017 is around 25,000 or 50 per 1 million inhabitants, according to Eurostat data released today.
The most fatal cases are the share of passengers and drivers of cars (46%), followed by pedestrians (21%), motorcyclists (15%), cyclists (8%) and other forms of transport.

Although fatalities due to road accidents involving cars and motorcycles have dropped an impressive 44 percent since 2010, safety levels on Greek roads remain low compared to the European Union average.
