Bulgaria, Romania to Attract Asian Tourists with Common Product

Bulgaria and Romania are to attract tourists from the more distant Asian countries through the development of a common tourist product.

This was announced by Bulgarian Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova on Tuesday, BGNES news agency reports.

Angelkova also revealed that the two countries plan to open a joint tourist office until the end of the year.

Bulgaria Has Capacity To Host More Refugees

Merely 61% of the capacity of Bulgarian refugee accommodation centers is currently used, stated Tatyana Kulinova, senior counsel to the State agency for the Refugees (DAB) on Friday.

As of 23 January 2015, 3 672 out of the available 6 000 spots in the centers have been occupied. Syrians, who number 2 751 people, are the largest group provided with accommodation.

Construction of 2 New Bulgaria-Romania Bridges to Start by 2017

The construction of the two new bridges Silistra - Calarasi and Nikopol - Turnu Magurele will start by 2017, according to Bulgaria's caretaker Transport Minister Nikolina Angelkova.

Angelkova explained Friday that the deadlines had been included in the bilateral memorandum on building two new bridges over the Danube.

Bulgaria, Romania to Sign Memorandum To Build Two New Bridges Over Danube

Bulgaria and Romania will sign a Memorandum of Understanding to implement feasibility studies on the construction of two new bridges over the Danube River, Transport Minister Nikolina Angelkova said, Tuesday.

The facilities will connect Nikopol with Turnu Magurele, and Silistra with Calarasi, Bulgaria's news agency BGNES reports.

Bulgaria's Customs Officers Apprehend 54 Illegal Immigrants at Danube Bridge Checkpoint

Bulgaria's customs officers have apprehended 54 unidentified individuals - reportedly illegal immigrants - at checkpoint Danube Bridge, reports Nova TV.

A total of 46 Syrians and 8 Iraqi nationals were found Friday morning in a truck carrying heavy equipment to Germany, announced the Border Police in the city of Ruse.

All 54 people and the driver of the truck were detained.
