Bassoon to be able to be tuned after Turkish artists' work
The bassoon, a woodwind musical instrument with a history going back some 500 years, will be able to be tuned like many other instruments thanks to the work of two artists in Turkey who have developed a new design.
Starfish fossil found on mountain in Turkey's south
A starfish fossil has been found at an altitude of 1,200 meters in the southern Turkish province of Mersin's Bozyazı district, Doğan News Agency has reported.
The fossil appears to prove that the Taurus Mountains were under the sea millions of years ago.
The starfish fossil was discovered in a rock, with locals saying there are many fossils of barnacles in the vicinity.
Ancient tombs, church found in Tieion in northern Turkey
This year's excavation works have ended in the ancient city of Tieion, known as the Ephesus of the Black Sea, after unearthing 25 Byzantine-era tombs and one church.
Located in the Çaycuma district of Zonguldak province, Tieion dates back to the 6th or 7th century and excavations at the site started 10 years ago.
First Comic & Arts Festival in Istanbul
The Istanbul Comics & Art Festival (ICAF) will be held for the first time this year at the St. Joseph Social Club in the city's Moda neighborhood. The festival will take place from Sept. 23-25 and feature the most prominent cartoonists, comic books, animations, illustrations, graffiti artists and alternative performing artists.
