UPD 12.30: Egypt-Russia Flight 7K9268 crashes at Sinai: screams heard from wreckage

A passenger jet traveling from the Egyptian resort Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg disappeared from radar screens in Cypriot airspace. The Russian Kogalymavia airlines Airbus A-321, according to sources, had 217 passengers (17 children) and seven crew members on board. All of the passengers were Russian civilians.

Six Egyptian Policemen Injured as Car Bomb Hits Security Building in Cairo

A car bomb targeted a state security building in northern Cairo early on Thursday, injuring six Egyptian policemen.

The explosion, which occurred in the Shubra district, destroyed the facade of the building., Al Jazeera informs.

At present, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, the BBC reports.

ISIL claims attack that kills five members of Egypt's security forces

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant's (ISIL) Egypt affiliate said in a statement on a social media site it carried out an attack in North Sinai on military checkpoints that killed five members of the country's security forces on July 18.

The deaths occurred when several mortar rounds hit two checkpoints, security sources said earlier.
