Government announces relief measures for Attica fire casualties

As the death toll from the destructive fire in eastern Attica rose to 81 on Wednesday, rescue teams continued the effort to find dozens of people who remained unaccounted for.

More specifically, some 130 army and fire brigade personnel were continuing the search for the missing, whose numbers are difficult to determine.

Leading member of Rouvikonas remanded over threat to Skai TV, radio

A leading member of the Rouvikonas anti-establishment group has been remanded for questioning after allegedly posting a threat on social media against broadcaster Skai TV and radio.

Giorgos Kalaitzidis was remanded in the downtown Athens neighborhood of Exarchia after a social media post from an account in his name threatened to "burn down" the broadcaster.

A lawmaker of the ruling SYRIZA party said on Monday that the self-proclaimed anarchist group Rouvikonas is not a criminal group but a political one that engages in activism. 

Referring to the paint attack on the French Embassy and Consulate in Athens on Sunday, Giorgos Kyritsis told Skai TV on Monday that throwing paint is "a classic case of activism."
