The consumption of energy from renewable sources has increased by nearly ten percent in Bulgaria during the first seven months of 2017, according to data from the Electricity System Operator, announced on Wednesday, reports Mediapool. 

Turkey's Zorlu Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Palestine's electricity distribution company JDECO for the construction and operation of solar power plants to provide electricity to Palestine, the company announced on July 19.      

With renewable energy on the rise, it makes perfect sense for the title “world’s largest solar plant” to change hands pretty quickly. In 2014 for example, the 550 MW Topaz Solar Farm held the title, to be toppled in November by a 648 MW plant in Kamuthi India. At this point in time, China’s Dam Solar Park has risen above them all with 850 MW of capacity. Sound like a lot?

Feeding the world’s growing population takes a lot of land, especially if you want to grow crops in an eco-friendly way.  But space for such crops is limited.

The so-called "SolaRoad" bike path is made of concrete modules each measuring 2.5 by 3.5 metres (eight by 11 feet), embedded with solar panels covered in tempered glass.
      

An Israeli solar power company, Brenmiller Energy, says it has developed a new, more efficient way to store heat from the sun that could give a boost to the thermal solar power industry by enabling plants to run at full capacity night and day.

Solar park opens in northern Serbia

BEOČIN -- Serbian Minister of Energy Aleksandar Antić has opened a 1 MW solar power plant in the Beočin municipality, near Novi Sad, in northern Serbia.

The investment is worth EUR 2 million, with EUR 1.4 million secured from an Erste bank loan.
