Refugee trafficking operation busted by police in Attica

Police said Wednesday that a people smuggling operation unraveled last week in Attica used stolen passports and even forged an ID belonging to a member of Eurojust - the European Union agency dealing with judicial cooperation in criminal matters - to fly refugees into Central and Northern Europe.

McArthurGlen protests decision keeping it shut on Sundays

McArthurGlen Athens has sent a protest letter to the economy minister as the stores (except for the food service enterprises) at its outlet village in Spata, close to Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, have been excluded from a decision allowing shops to open every Sunday from May to October every year.

Zara to open megastore near Athens Airport

Greek real estate development company REDS announced on Wednesday that multinational apparel chain Zara has agreed to lease a space totaling more than 3,000 square meters at Smart Park in Spata, near Athens International Airport.

The retail and entertainment center is owned by REDS, a member of the Ellaktor group of companies.

This will be Zara's biggest store in Greece.

Robbers break into Ikea store to steal ATM

Four hooded robbers on Monday night broke into the Ikea homeware and furnishings store near Athens International Airport in Spata, northeast of the Greek capital, and made off with an ATM, police said on Tuesday.

The robbers allegedly broke into the store's central doorway and removed a Piraeus Bank ATM, which they loaded into their getaway car.

Listed firm Real Estate Development and Services (Reds) SA this week announced the signing of a property leasing contract with clothing firm Sarah Lawrence in the Smart Park commercial park at Spata, eastern Attica.

It said that the contract has been undertaken by Yialou Commercial & Tourist SA, a subsidiary of the company.
