Two motorists killed in head-on collision

Lemurs cool off with fruit popsicles amid heatwave
Ring-tailed lemurs enjoy licking a fruit popsicle at the Attica Zoological Park in Spata suburb, eastern Athens, on Friday. With temperatures soaring to 40°C (104 degrees Fahrenheit) and expected to rise further, the zoo is providing frozen meals to a wide variety of animals to help them cope with the scorching conditions during the fourth heatwave in less than a month.

Wildlife goes on at Athens zoo
Newborn ring-tailed lemurs play inside the shuttered Attica Zoological Park, in Spata, east of Athens, on Thursday. Five lemurs were born after the site was closed to the public as part of health restrictions for the new coronavirus pandemic. The government is planning next week to ease restrictions against the Covid-19 which has so far helped keep infection rates low in Greece.

Village Park and Florida 1 set to change hands
Property investment group Pradera is putting both of its assets in Greece on the market.
Sources say it is at an advanced stage for the concession of the Village Entertainment Park (pictured) at Renti, near Piraeus, as well as the Florida 1 Retail Park at Pylaia in Thessaloniki.

Spata leases airplane to bring back school children on trip to France
The eastern Attica Municipality of Spata-Artemida has leased an airplane to bring back a group of students and teachers from the local high school who are on a trip to France so that they may avoid the return journey by bus via Italy.
Police smash large drugs racket in Athens
A large drug cartel operating primarily in the Athens suburbs of Acharnes and Fyli has been unraveled by Attica police authorities.
Police said the cartel consisted of seven gangs that worked under the guidance of two criminal organizations.

Police launch manhunt for Spata burglars
Police on Friday were seeking three armed men who forced their way into a house in Spata, eastern Attica, on Thursday night and threatened an elderly couple and their housekeeper.
The robbers, who had their faces covered, rang the doorbell at around 9.30 p.m. and when the door was opened, barged in and threatened the three victims at gunpoint.
