Concern over intentions of winning bidder for Faliro Sports Hall

March 15 is the fast-approaching deadline for the lease tender of the Faliro Sports Hall, where the 2004 Olympic tae kwon do events took place, and its neighboring land zone located in front of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, conducted by the Hellenic Public Properties Company (ETAD).

Saving the old library building

The National Library of Greece has acquired a new state-of-the-art headquarters at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. 

However, the old headquarters at the historic Vallianeio neoclassical building in downtown Athens seems to have surrendered to the miscommunication between the ministries responsible for its rescue. 

Greek language learning platform now available in French and German

StaEllinika.com, an online platform for learning Greek, is now available in French and German, the Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.

The platform was already available in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

All functions on the website are free, and can be used both by individual learners as well as educational institutions.

Museum housing shackled skeletons on track

The Culture Ministry has announced that a tender will be completed in the next few months for the selection of the contractor who will construct the museum/shell that will protect and showcase an ancient mass grave discovered in 2016 during digging at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center at Phaleron (present-day Faliro) Delta, south of Athens.

Building permit for Thessaloniki Holocaust Museum finally issued

Greece's Environment Ministry and Thessaloniki's municipal town planning authority issued on December 19 the building permit for the construction of the city's Holocaust Museum, with work expected to begin next year, the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki announced on Wednesday. 

The project is slated for completion in 2026.

As part of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) Christmas World program, the SNFCC Youth Council has organized four open-air gigs to highlight up-and-coming representatives of different musical genres, from indie folk and grooves to traditional sounds and electronic experimentation, in the Stavros Niarchos Park's Pine Grove.
