16,789 Road Violations Established in Bulgaria Between March 27 and April 2
According to data provided by Chief Directorate National Police, there were 16,789 road violations established in the period March 27 - April 2, the press centre of the Ministry of Interior announced.
8,527 fines were issued during the period and 5,353 charges. A total of 9,360 electronic fines were issued.
Police Terminate Registration of 200 Cars in One Week
The police have terminated the registration of 185 vehicles in a week, reported the Interior Ministry. Most drivers were sanctioned for drink driving - 92 cases. In 71 cases, the drivers had no licences, while in 22 cases drug use was detected.
The new penalty entered into force two months ago but is applicable only to car owners.
Father, daughter die in Kifissia crash
A man and his daughter died after their vehicle collided with a van on Kifissias Avenue, near KAT hospital, in Kifissia, northern Athens, on Friday. The man's wife sustained serious injuries and was being treated at KAT.

No alcohol for drivers, say Greek coroners
Greek coroners are advising those driving during the holidays to abstain from alcohol altogether. Ahead of the New Year's celebrations, the Hellenic Society of Forensic Medicine noted that local morgues are always filled with the bodies of young people at this time of year.

Two minors drown after car plunges off quay on Lesvos
Two minors drowned after their vehicle plunged off a quay at the port of Mitilene on Lesvos, early on Monday. One of the two victims was driving the car, early reports suggested, while another 3 minors managed to get out of the vehicle.
The incident occurred at around 3.30 a.m. near the old town hall, state agency ANA-MPA reported.
394 Traffic Accidents in Bulgaria's Sofia Due To Heavy Snow
As of Tuesday morning until 15:00 hrs, there were 394 traffic accidents in Sofia, reported the Interior Ministry.
Usually, between 100 and 150 accidents occur over 24 hours.
The ministry pointed out that 4 of the accidents were serious and people have been injured but there are no victims.
Horrific accident leaves 3 dead, including 2 children
Two boys, aged five and eight, and a 45-year-old man lost their lives early on Friday in a traffic accident on the Novi Sad-Subotica highway.
The website 021.rs is reporting that the crash happened at around 01:30 CET, and that the victims died on the spot.
Traffic accidents in 9 months kill 2,172
According to numbers provided by the police, 2,222 of the traffic accidents in the first nine months of 2016 led to deaths and 137,554 involved injuries.
Turkey saw 307,608 traffic accidents in the first nine months of this year, with 2,172 people killed in those accidents and 234,458 injured.

Bulgaria Ranked 1st by Road Fatalities in Europe
Bulgaria had the biggest number of road fatalities in the EU last year, European Commission data shows.
The country had a rate of 98 deceased people per million inhabitants, with 95 in neighboring Romania and in Latvia, 82 in Lithuania, and 82 in Croatia.
Malta (26), Sweden (27), the UK (28), Denmark and the Netherlands (31 each) had the lowest number of road fatalities.

How NOT to prevent road accidents
Turkish news channel NTV ran a story on Oct. 7. The story, read by a speaker on the radio, sounded quite cohesive, logical and consistent in a country where such news narratives are extremely rare.
