Mother and her 2-year-old die in car crash

BELGRADE -- A woman and her 2-year-old child lost their lives in the early hours of Tuesday in a traffic accident on the Sabac-Loznica road, in western Serbia.

The accident happened at around 02:00 CET, leaving the woman instantly dead, while the child succumbed to injuries later in a Belgrade hospital, RTS is reporting.

BELGRADE -- A drunk driver in Uzice, western Serbia, has had his license revoked and was ordered to pay RSD 150,000 after causing a traffic accident.

The man crashed into a parked car and then fell asleep. The police determined that his blood alcohol content was 5.5 milligrams per milliliter.

Car Accident Casualties Increase

In 2014 the number of casualties in traffic accidents in Bulgaria will most likely exceed 600, the chairperson of the Association of car accident victims Vladimir Todorov told the Focus news agency.

Since the beginning of the year on Bulgaria's roads died 571 people and more than 7000 have been injured, according to data of Bulgaria's Interior Ministry.

Traffic accidents rise 1.3 pct in August, year-on-year

The number of traffic accidents in Greece that caused death or injury rose by 1.3 percent in August this year compared to the same month in 2013, figures released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) on Friday have shown.

In numbers, 1,059 crashes were reported in the last month of the summer this year, up from 1,045 last year.

Boy, 13, dies after falling from fifth floor in Thessaloniki

A 13-year-old boy died of his injuries after falling from the fifth floor of a building in the northern port of Thessaloniki on Thursday.

Early witness reports suggested the youngster was allegedly jumping between buildings with a group of friends in the city center.

A police investigation was underway to determine the exact cause of the fatal accident.
