3 Syrians detained over suspected ISIL links
Three suspected ISIL terrorists were detained in Turkey's southern Adana province, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on March 12.
The three Syrian nationals were detained in an anti-terror operation carried out by Turkish police.
Turkey was one of the first countries to recognize ISIL as a terrorist group in 2013, as soon as it emerged.

Croatia Convicts Bosnian Croats of Detention Camp Crimes
Croatian media reported that Split county court found former Croatian Defence Council fighters Marinko Maric and Zeljko Rodin guilty of war crimes against Bosniak civilians and prisoners of war held at detention camps in the Western Herzegovina area from July to September 1993.

Syrian girl from viral video begins new life in Turkey
Salwa, a 3-year-old Syrian girl who became famous for heaving with laughter despite bombings by the Syrian regime in the war-torn country's northwestern province of Idlib, was brought to Turkey on Feb. 25 to give her a safer childhood.
Salwa, who was taught by her father to laugh at the sound of bombs, recently arrived in Turkey with her family to begin a new life.
170,000 people living in the open in northwestern Syria: UN
An estimated 170,000 of the 900,000 civilians forced from their homes in a massive wave of displacement in northwestern Syria are living out in the open, the U.N. said on Feb. 20.
The largest displacement since the civil war in Syria broke out nearly nine years ago comes in the thick of winter, with temperatures often dipping below zero Celsius and snow covering some districts.
Regime attacks kill 300 this year: UN
Syrian government air strikes backed by Russia have hit hospitals and displaced persons camps in northwest Syria and killed about 300 civilians as President Bashar al-Assad's forces press an assault against the last rebel stronghold, the United Nations said on Feb. 18.

Assad regime helicopter downed in northwest Syria
A Syrian opposition group reported on Feb. 14 that they downed a Syrian regime helicopter in a "de-escalation zone" in northwest Syria.
The helicopter was hit directly while flying over the western Aleppo province, in a rural area of Aleppo that falls within the de-escalation zone of the neighboring province of Idlib.

A Top Syrian Islamist has been Detained in France
A senior member of the Syrian Islamist group, Jaish al-Islam, has been detained in France and charged with war crimes and torture.
The man, born in 1988, is a former spokesman for the group and has been in France with a student visa under the Erasmus program. He was detained in Marseille.

International crisis looms as 700,000 flee Syria's Idlib
An assault on rebel-held northwest Syria by government forces has pushed some 700,000 people to flee toward the Turkish border and raised the specter of an international crisis, U.S. Special Envoy for Syria James Jeffrey said on Jan. 29.
