A code red warning is in effect this morning due to strong winds in the Vratsa and Montana regions. According to data from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, wind gusts reach 30-35 meters per second.

On Tuesday it will be quite windy, with a moderate, in Eastern Bulgaria and north of the mountains - a strong wind from the south-southwest. The minimum temperatures will mostly be between 2°C and 7°C, in Sofia - around 3°C.

A yellow code has been announced for 27 regions in Bulgaria because of the strong wind, in some places the gusts are expected to be up to 20-24 m/s.

Today, the cloudiness from the west will begin to increase and towards the end of the day in some places, mainly in Northwestern Bulgaria, light rain will fall. A moderate southern wind will blow, which will also bring warming: the maximum temperatures will be between 5°C and 10°C, in Sofia - around 7°C.

Sunny and windy weather will prevail today. A moderate, strong north-westerly wind will blow in the Danube plain and the western part of the Upper Thracian plain, and a portion of cold air will invade with it.

A yellow code has been announced for 17 areas in Northern and Central Bulgaria due to the strong wind. The northwest wind is expected to gust 18-20 m/s.

Today the weather will remain mostly sunny and warm. The prevailing minimum temperatures will be between minus 1°C and 4°C, in Sofia - around 0°C, the maximum will be between 13°C and 18°C.

A yellow and orange high wind warning code has been issued by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology for most of Bulgaria (see map below).

One person died and dozens more were injured early Saturday as powerful winds hit a music festival near the Spanish resort of Valencia, causing the stage to partially collapse, medics said.

The incident occurred shortly after 4:00 am (0200 GMT) at the Medusa Circus of Madness dance music festival on Cullera beach, some 50 kilometers (30 miles) south of Valencia.

Dust clouds dragged from Syria by strong winds have covered the skies over many southeastern and central Anatolia provinces on June 3.
