A dramatic police chase unfolded in Zefyri, western Attica late Tuesday night following reports of gunfire.

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) stated that around 9 p.m., a patrol unit heard gunshots on Therisou Street and spotted a vehicle speeding away.

Authorities say a shooting suspect fled on foot after evading police in his vehicle in Zefyri, northwest of Athens, late Tuesday.

A 42-year-old Pakistani national, accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy on the autism spectrum in a western Athenian district, was deemed remandable following his defense on Monday.

Authorities say a man poured a flammable liquid on a woman and tried to set her on fire.

A statement from the police said the incident, said to be triggered by an altercation, occurred on Monday morning in the western Attica suburb of Zefyri.

A 51-year-old suspect, identified as Roma, has been apprehended by the police in connection with the attack.

Three people, aged 34, 36 and 41, were arrested on Tuesday in Zefyri, western Attica and charged with the attempted murder of a 19-year-old, robbery and violations of weapons legislation. 

According to the police, the three men stole the mobile phone of the 19-year-old in the Monastiraki area of central Athens using physical force.

The racket's loot is believed to be worth in excess of 328,000 euros.

According to police, the woman, who is believed to be Roma (either Bulgarian or Romanian), was found unconscious in the street on Wednesday.

Police in Athens revealed Thursday that 26 members of four families from Zefyri, western Attica, have been arrested on suspicion of peddling drugs. Authorities said that eight of those arrested are aged between 13 and 16.
