The Justice Department is weighing possible charges against Sen. Bob Menendez after a yearslong public-corruption probe, the Wall Street Journal reported on Aug. 25. 

Prosecutors are expected to meet with his lawyers in the coming weeks ahead of a final decision, the people familiar with the matter said.

Turkey will speed up works to develop "halal tourism" in a bid to lure even more Muslim tourists, Culture and Tourism Minister Mahir Ünal said at the opening of the Halal Tourism Conference 2016 in the Central Anatolian province of Konya. 

Ünal said Turkey is stepping up its efforts to boost halal tourism, which has a share of around 12 percent in the global tourism. 

The Marmara Research Center (MAM) of the Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜB?TAK) has developed a test to swiftly detect whether there is pork in halal meat, after investing almost $125,000 over more than two years.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu will be the guest of honor to inaugurate the world's biggest international halal tourism conference, the organizers of the conference said in a written statement on April 28. 

A plan to regulate halal food has not been included in China's legislative work order for 2016, after concerns were raised that the law would lead to the government having authority over religious issues.
