Türkiye cannot allow Syria to be divided and turn into a conflict zone once again, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, vowing to eliminate all terror organizations, including ISIL and YPG, from the Syrian territories.

The Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) is intensifying its efforts to prevent PKK and YPG from establishing a foothold in the northern Syrian city of Manbij as opposition forces continue their surprise offensive against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

The Syrian National Army (SNA) of the opposition thwarted the PKK/YPG terror group's attempt to establish a terror corridor between Tal Rifaat and northeastern Syria through an executed operation, Turkish security sources stated on Dec. 1.

Türkiye's U.N. envoy, Ahmet Yıldız, warned on Friday regarding the "dangerous" impact of the PKK/YPG terror group in Syria, stressing that it is a "major destabilizing factor" in the country.

Türkiye has urged once again that the United States should cut its support to the YPG in the fight against ISIL, an issue the two allies are at odds with since 2015.

Senior Turkish and American diplomats will meet in the Turkish capital this week to discuss bilateral ties and regional cooperation, the State Department has announced.

According to a written statement by the State Department, Under Secretary John Bass will travel to Pakistan and Türkiye between Sept. 14 and 18.

Türkiye is closely monitoring developments in Syria following clashes between the PKK and Arab tribesmen, and reports of Russia and Syria establishing a new base in the region, defense sources have said.

Deir el-Zour in eastern Syria saw fighting early on Aug. 7 between the PKK's Syrian wing YPG and local tribes.

Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, attending the NATO Defense Ministers Meeting, has emphasized Türkiye's desire for the positive atmosphere in relations with Washington to continue, urging the U.S. to stop supporting the terrorist organization PKK/YPG.

The elections to be held in northern Syria by the YPG have been postponed once again as a result of Ankara's steadfast reaction, the Turkish security sources have said.

Plans by U.S.-backed YPG to conduct local elections in northern Syria are "unacceptable" and a threat to Türkiye's national security, Defense Minister Yaşar Güler said on June 3.

Türkiye considers the move as a step toward the creation of a separate Kurdish entity across its borders.
