Lordship of Salona

During the last weekend of March, we had the opportunity and the luxury to attend two events held in collaboration with the Municipality of Delphi, at the Kyriakopoulio Cultural Center of Itea.

A mild earthquake, measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale, struck the sea bed in the Corinthian Gulf shortly before 12.30 p.m. on Monday, but was felt in the Greek capital.

According to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the temblor struck at 12.24 p.m. some 33 kilometers southeast of Galaxidi. 

The quake had a depth of 17.5 kilometers. 

For a few hours every year, residents and visitors of this pretty Greek seaside town have a license to lose their civility.

They have what's known as a "flour war" - participants pelt each other with bags of dyed flour along the coastal road lining Galaxidi's old harbor.
